The Hemmingway Studio
Hemmingway House

Key West Main

Above the carriage house at the rear of his home was the studio where he would write in the mornings. A catwalk, long gone, extended from the house's second story porch of the bedroom right over to the entrance. Now the tourists must walk a stairway to the upper room, peak through the gratings and imagine him working.

A comfortable chair, a table and a manual typewriter. But he wrote longhand; sometimes many versions of the same, on legal size yellow pads.
