Munich, Germany

Strolling through Munich and using public transportation is the greatest way to see Munich. Besides gas prices are very high and car rental really is not necessary.

In the bus plazas are shops and places to rest. In the one pictured to the right are several large chess tables in a public square. Fountains and large trees provide a cool and relaxing atmosphere.

Oh to be young again! What a wonderful environment for studying at a University.

You can find gardens within blocks of any area in Munich. Just off busy shopping streets in the upscale area of downtown Munich is the Hofgarten.

Munich

The central plaza is Marienplatz and is home to the Glockenspiel (Carillon) in the Rathaus, or townhall. Beneath the townhall is a tourist restaurant of Bavarian cuisine called the Ratskeller.

Marienplatz is THE meeting place and always seems to have activity. Easy to get to and distinctive enough that you can't miss it if you get turned around while walking. It is close to Planet Hollywood, Hofbrau Haus, the open air market, parks, museums, trains and subways.

It is easy to catch the train to a suburban hotel and eliminate the hustle if you desire.  Try the Andescher Hof at the end of the rail line.
