Germany,
Munich (OLD) do not use Munich is the capital of Bavaria. Munich anytime of the year is worth a visit. Olympia park The Munich Olympic games of 1972 left the city with a great park and convention area. The Olympic tower looks down on the city from the north and, on a clear day, the mountains can be seen in the distance. The view of the city is spectacular and a help to get your bearings after spending time in the underground railway system. In the summer the open stage Theatron offers free concerts on the edge of the Olympic Lake. Walk up the 50 meter high Olympiaberg for views of the Olympic grounds and beyond. Not as high as the tower views but it is free. The hill is actually a pile of rubble left over from World War II. Nearby is the BMW Museum with its fascinating cars and motorcycles. Witness over 80 years of technological innovations in aircraft engines and racing cars. Both the museum and the park are easy walking amongst the paths from the U3 underground station Olympia park. Munich is not difficult walking as there are few hills. The cobblestone streets and many pedestrian malls make walking the best way to experience Munich life; weather permitting. If you choose to walk from the park you may find yourself in a Kleingarten; one of the great features of German life. Small plots maintained by the city dwellers give a chance to grow vegetables, entertain and relax in their individually owned community gardens. You see them often along the railroad right-of-ways on odd shaped and otherwise unusable land. Walk back to town along Leopoldstrasse and you will pass by the towering Walking Man (1995) or "Smooth Walker"....... A huge pure white sculpture of a man-like image. Tour guides may also refer to it as "The Eunuch of Munich" as there are no attributes to identify if it is human or a particular sex . Many restaurants and even a few Internet Cafes will help with the time spent on a great afternoon stroll to central Munich. Also along the way you may see the Viktualienmarkt or Open Air Market, common in many sections of the city.
