The wharf in the evening becomes Mallory Square

Wharf Cats add to the festivities.

The island is small so the transportation need not be elaborate. The BMW's and Porsches are left in garages and golf cart size cars are everywhere. The bicycle and motorized scooter are also a popular conveyance.

Buzz along on a scooter or stroll the streets of Key West and you will end up in the wharf area. Long since converted into upscale shops and hotels, the area is also host to occasional cruise ships that spend the night. The view over the shallows reaching into the ocean is fantastic. Great sailing ships abound and the pier provides a vast expanse to feel the sea breezes and watch the birds rise and fall on the currents.

Three flags fly in Key West for the third flag represents their independence.
