Serving the Outer Islands of Seattle to Vancouver

The car ferries load up and head up into the San Juan Islands. The area is patrolled on a regular basis by these behemoths of the northwest channels. They are run by the State of Washington but there are private ferries also. Many islands have small grass runways so you can get in and out by airplane especially in an emergency.

Arriving at Shaw Island we are greeted by the nun. The island is a religious refuge.
