Sandos Riviera in Playacar

The Rooms

The newest area of rooms at the Sandos Playacar are the Riviera rooms. They are the largest in the resort and have a seating area next to the bed(s). The couch unfolds to make a bed if you need to use the rooms maximum capacity. The TV is fixed to the wall and can be viewed from jacuzzi, couch, desk or bed. The extra chairs in the room make it seem crowded and you end up constantly pushing them around. Unfortunately the maids consistently return them to their assigned spots, line up your shoes, and return the room to Sandos' idea of home. The air conditioning blows from above the door and the fan over the bed swirls. If you get the room temperature to your liking remember the settings ...housekeeping will reset all your changes.

Use the slippers provided. Sandos provides them for a purpose and there must be a reason they provide them. IMHO it is a good preventive measure for foot fungus and slippery tiles.

The Jacuzzi is large enough for two persons side by side compared to many other resorts smaller jet tubs. The eco attributes of the room can get in the way of your comfort due the wall dispensers, low water flows, and the closet shower and toilet. The shower head can not be adjusted by normal height individuals as it is up by the ceiling. It is near impossible to rinse feet and legs since you can not back up far enough in the closet and the water flow is miniscule.

The narrow patio has two chairs and a little table. You can pass by an occupied chair only with difficulty. Our solution was to put a chair on each end since the door opened in the middle. This was also returned to side by side seating each day by housekeeping.

A drying rack is on the patio wall but things never dry outside. Also critters roam and do get on the patio areas. When sitting on the patio we had various critters see us and joined looking for handouts. They seem to have a hankering for chips and salsa.
