The Sandos Playacar

Beach

Rows and rows of lounge chairs, an occasional hammock and vinyl covered beds in rows dragged into a confusing array by the end of the day.  The sand is great up by the palapas but the "new" beach they pumped in has a lot of broken shells and coral chunks. If you want the sugar sand you won't find it the first 100 feet from the water's edge.

Children play in the sand making creative piles washed by waves. The slope is difficult for small children and adults can not see over the sand ridge from the lounge chairs. The distance is about 200 feet from palapa to water which leaves plenty of room for volleyball, soccer, sand castles and adult horseplay.

The Select Club (Gold wrist band) area is next to the Iberostar resort and separated from the blue wrist band group by the rope fence and signs announcing special privileges. The lounge chairs are the same (san cushions) but there are 4-5 vinyl beds.

Try a hammock chair. You will be surprised how comfortable they really are.  People from the Iberostar sneak over and sit in them all the time.

It is easy to stay busy on the beach, no charge for kayak, sailboats, or an organized or disorganized game of futbol.
