Ruby Magnuson
Ruby Fay Evelyn Magnuson was born on the family farm in LaGrande Township, on May 30, 1915, daughter of Magnus Ewald and Anna (Anderson) Magnuson. She grew up in Alexandria where she graduated from high school.
Ruby was employed as a waitress for a short time following her graduation. In 1935 she went to work for C Fred Hanson's law office which later became Pappenfus Law Office, as a legal secretary. She retired in 1982. Ruby was a lifetime resident of Alexandria.
Ruby was a former member of the Euterpean Club. She enjoyed participating in her church by assisting in church work, served as the church pianist and organist, and was a Sunday school superintendent. Outside interests included golfing, reading, and fishing. Family visits were important to her. She loved her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as being a great aunt and fun to be around.
Ruby died on May 16, 2001 at Bethany Home, at the age of 85. Ruby is survived by her sister May Lee of Burnsville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four brothers Edgar, Rudy, Ben and Arnold Magnuson, and five sisters, Helen Tommerdahl, Hilda Holtan, Gladys Magnuson, Edna Magnuson, and Elna Magnuson.
A funeral service was held on May 21, 2001 at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church with Chaplain Doug Lee and Reverend Dan Christ officiating. Music was provided by Tom Elie and Wayne Lee.
Internment was in Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Vagle, Clarence Sperling, Wayne Lee, Paul Anderson, Vern Anderson, Bud Thoan and Merv Roggow. Justin Vagle was an honorary pallbearer.
