New York City

Return to Main Page

 Hi everyone,

I know I've spoken to some of you already, and many have heard that I'm okay, but I just wanted to say hello and let you know what's happened.

Yesterday I thankfully wasn't hurt, but I was unfortunately quite close to everything.  I got off the subway four blocks north of the World Trade Center at 9am, just a few minutes after the first plane hit.  We were all horrified watching the fire, then the second plane hit.  The fireball came out in our direction and everybody ran.  My school is about four blocks further north, I was there when we saw the first building fall.  I almost got trampled because all I could do was stand in the middle of the sidewalk with tears running down my face. My friend Missy pulled me up against the building as the people and the dust rolled by.  It was by far the most horrific thing I have ever seen.

We were stuck at school all afternoon until they reopened the bridges and we could walk back to Brooklyn.  Today they've blocked off that whole part of the city and we don't know when we'll be able to get back.  Last night the phone lines were impossible, but I am just happy to let everyone know I'm okay.  Many of my friends still haven't heard from people they know and love--this is something that none of us will ever forget.  I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and words, I love you all and can't wait to see you again.

Love,

Jenny
