The Dom or Cathedral

 

 

St Ulrichs or the Basilica. On the other end of the street across town is The Dom.

There are really two churches that make up the Basilica area. The smaller one was constructed to satisfy the evangelicals that wanted a place to worship. Of course, the steeple would not be as big nor the church (Kirche) as grand but, for the time period, it solved their problem.

 

The oldest stained glass is located in the Dom

The church just to the side of the Mercury Plaza area is small but popular. The parishioners pour from the church after services and stand in the sunshine chatting. Many sit in the chairs by the tables set in from of the restaurants.
